The Power of what you think and journaling

Do you Write?

Do you have great ideas but then never write it down?

Do you have goals and dreams but there all in your head?

Do you ever have a real challenging day and you get home eat and sit in front of the TV feeling frustrated about everything?

I have found that writing down my day has helped me through so many trails, and it's really fun to look back at them to see how far I have come or what I need to work on.

They have said that people who write down there goals and dreams and who journal accomplish much more in life then those who do not. Powerful when you think about it.

Over the past a couple of months since I purchased the book and watched Louise L Hay's You can Heal you life and Dr Wayne Dyers "The Shift" I have been writing more about what I would like to do and have in my life. Like:

Better Health
Friendship
more Passion
strong marriage
more kids
successful business etc.

Here are two movie that have really inspired me

I noticed that this past week I have been feeling kind of sad and overwhelmed. I realized today that I have not been journaling this past week. Ops Really helps you stay focused. I find it very helpful to plan out my day as well. Some one once told us to pick the 6 most important things you must do in your day and do the hard ones first. Those things you tend to set aside.

Being at home I have found it challenging to focus because there is so much to do within the house life, clean. laundry, gardening, cooking, kids stuff ready, sending emails, reply to emails. I find I have been trying to do to much at once. So I am back to the drawing board with the planning and Journaling.

8 Years ago my husband and I went to see some speakers in Toronto ( well I wanted to see Dr Phil) and many other speakers. There was one who really stood out. His name is Robin Sharma. http://www.robinsharma.com

80% of what we have learned has been from Robin Sharma. Check out his website. He is a great Leadership Coach and travels all over the world helping people lead without a title. Amazing man.

He talked about the power of Journaling and how that helps us stay on track and accomplish our goals and help us with our challenges. I have been try to practice this ever since.

Pick up a pen and starting writing, You never know you could have a book in you

Hope everyone is having an amazing week

Love always
Julie Elliott

  2. Hi Julie,
Great post & you're so right about how something writing things down helps to sort through situations & figure things out. As much as I like to write, I sometimes find it challenging with all that needs to be done every day, so I appreciated your post to be reminded that I need to take the time to do this. ;-) Christine

  4. Julie, I'm so glad to have found your blog. We are indeed kindred spirits.
I have found writing in any form ~ be it journal-ling, blogging, to do lists, anything that puts words onto paper or screen ~ has become both therapy and inspiration for me, and the days I feel overwhelmed and frazzled are the days I don't write.

  6. Julie,
Thanks for the reminder to journal. I do write a lot, but the journaling I go in and out of.
Now I write my to-do lists in a special notebooks instead of papers that I used to discard. This way I can always look back and see my progress - keeps me moving forward.

  8. Hey Sweetie,

Love this message. I totally agree that we can get so overwhelmed by the things that are around us. For me planning and organizing what I need to do in one day has worked really well. Going back over the results has also helped to see the difference between what I planned and what I did to know where I can improve. Journaling is also a great tool for me to use and I strive to do it on a daily basis.

Thanks for all that you do for me and our family. I am so grateful to be on this journey together. You are AWESOME!

    Make it a great day!
    God Bless!

  10. Julie,

Wow... your life seems a lot like ours... working at home, doing things with the kids, household chores, etc., etc. It gets so hectic and sometimes we don't seem to accomplish what we want to.
Love the idea of the list and tackling the hard things first. Pat already writes his "what I want to accomplish today" list, now I just need to join in.
Journaling may be something we will look into. Sounds like it can be very helpful.

    Thanks,

  11. Hi Julie,
Having been an English and writing teacher for 15 years, I have witnessed time and again first hand the power of keeping a journal and writing down thoughts, dreams, goals, prayers, etc. Your story proves that writing and journaling are forces that cannot be underestimated! Journals can be filled with anything and everything, from our joys to our sorrows, or just as a place to "dump" everything out. Have you heard of the book called "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron? If not, it is one you might find useful to add to your library. She has tons of terrific journal prompts that can lead you to amazing places!
    Great post!

  12. Hi Julie,
I agree totally with your statement about journaling. It can be so empowering to actually put your thought down where you can revisit them at any time. Provides so much clarity for me.

I appreciate the things that you share with us. Have an awesome day!

  13. I have been hearing over and over about writing my own journal, and here i read it again. I don't really know what is holding me back, i guess i am book lazy, don't like using pens. But i will make an effort, i have no doubt that this can help me keep on track when it comes to achieving my goals.
    Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for this post, I love Louise Hay and Wayne Dyer. Got to say though I don't like writing down my thoughts they go through my head too much as it is, would rather write down things I am gratful for each day to keep me focused on the good things.

  15. thanks julie for sharing the power of journaling. i was introduced to journaling when i started MLM, and my mentor said i needed to do it to be successful. i resisted for over a year, and once i finally sat down to do it, a lot has come together for me and my business. just writing down your goals and intentions is so powerful. i think it's a human way of letting the universe know what we want!

Instead of using pen and paper, you could type it out on the computer. I know many people who have been doing that. Hope you have a great weekend.
